Da alcuni decenni l’antifascismo pare aver perso la sua rilevanza nel dibattito civile e storiografico. Anche il Centenario della marcia su Roma ha lasciato sullo sfondo le storie di coloro che si opposero al fascismo sin dagli anni dello squadrismo.
Questo libro invece le recupera e le racconta, mettendo al centro il vissuto quotidiano, i percorsi coraggiosi e dolorosi, in nome della libertà, dentro e fuori l’Italia negli anni complicati della guerra civile europea. Si riflette anche sugli antifascismi come ideologie politiche, con saggi che prendono in esame i discorsi e le pratiche delle diverse culture antifasciste e talvolta il loro difficile dialogo. Infine, si aprono alcuni squarci su cosa accade all’antifascismo dopo il 1945, sulle dispute della memoria e sul suo utilizzo nelle battaglie politiche dei primi anni della Repubblica e della Guerra Fredda.
