Investigative journalists and their team leads are nowadays often faced with KPI’s they are expected to reach: new subscriptions, audience reach, journalism awards, etc.. Does it make sense to burden investigative journalists with these goals to achieve? Can they even be beneficial if done right? What are the dangers of pushing investigative journalists into a direction in which they choose their topics data-driven rather than data-informed?
