Prima di essere preghiera, prima di essere annuncio e profezia cristologica, il Salterio è la silloge biblica per eccellenza. Il canto di un popolo che ha bisogno di tradurre in parole le proprie emozioni e di conservarne la memoria; di fare letteratura della propria storia. E allora per ridare al libro dei Salmi il suo posto nella letteratura mondiale, bisogna ripartire dal testo e guardarlo con gli occhi e gli strumenti della critica letteraria. Amarlo prima di tutto come il frutto di un bisogno espressivo di un popolo. Privato della sua dimensione mistica, riuscirà il Salterio a parlare all’umanità di oggi?
