Il libro “Madri detenute. Dal lavoro educativo in carcere alla ricerca sociopolitica” nasce dall’esperienza educativa di Valentina De Fazio maturata negli istituti penitenziari di San Vittore e Bollate con la Fondazione Arché di Milano e da una ricerca sociopolitica condotta con e per le madri detenute.
La maternità in carcere è un tema poco indagato, ma riguarda oltre il 60% delle donne detenute in Italia: molte vivono separate dai figli, altre li crescono in carcere in spazi per loro inadeguati.
Il libro restituisce le loro voci, evidenziando fragilità, resilienza e possibilità di cambiamento, e affronta una domanda centrale: è giusto che un bambino viva in carcere?
No, tuttavia non ci sono risposte semplici e univoche, il testo richiama l’urgenza di soluzioni alternative, dal miglioramento degli Icam alla implementazione delle Case-Famiglia Protette, fino a percorsi educativi e psicologici individualizzati.
Il carcere è lo specchio della società: comprendere e affrontare queste storie significa decidere quale futuro collettivo vogliamo costruire.
