As of today, over 123 journalists have reportedly been killed in Gaza, the highest toll ever recorded in a single conflict.
The panel discussion will focus on the #GazaProject, a collaborative investigation into the attacks on journalists in Gaza. This project involved 13 media organizations and 50 journalists, resulting in over 20 investigations published across 15 countries.
The panel will begin with a screening of the project trailer, followed by an in-depth discussion on the challenges of conducting investigations without direct access to the conflict zone. The panelists will explore the major findings, the methods used and how diverse teams focused on different aspects of the project were coordinated.

Manisha Ganguly
Manisha Ganguly is the visual investigations lead and an investigations correspondent at The Guardian. She has been pioneering open-source investigations (OSI) to expose war crimes. She is a judge for the International Emmy®Awards, a member of BAFTA, a Forbes Under 30 media honouree, and a two-time Amnesty Award winner. Manisha holds a PhD in OSINT, AI and automation and the future of investigative journalism funded by the University of Westminster. Her investigative documentaries for the BBC World Service, exposing war crimes and human rights abuses across the Middle East, North Africa, Russia and China, have been broadcast to over 300 million.
Frederik Obermaier
Frederik Obermaier is a book author and Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter. Together with his colleague Bastian Obermayer he founded the Munich-based investigative newsroom paper trail media. In Germany, paper trail media is exclusively partnering with the magazine Der Spiegel and the public broadcaster ZDF. In Austria, paper trail media collaborates with Der Standard. Obermaier is one of the two reporters first contacted by the anonymous source of the Panama Papers, the leaked documents that prompted a global investigation involving hundreds of journalists. He also co-initiated the Paradise Papers-revelations and the Suisse Secrets-investigations. Frederik is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, board-member of Arab Reporter for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), co-founder of the Anti Corruption Data Collective and co-author with Bastian Obermayer of the international bestsellers Panama Papers – Breaking the story of how the rich and powerful hide their money (Oneworld Publications, 2017) and The Ibiza Affair - Inside views of a scandal (Kiepenheuer & Witsch, 2019). Together with Obermayer and the journalist Hannes Munzinger he co-authored the book Suisse Secrets - How bankers hid money from tax evaders, torture generals, dictators and the Catholic Church - with the help of politics (Kiepenheuer & Witsch, 2022).
Hoda Osman
Hoda Osman is an investigative journalist and editor based in New York. She is Executive Editor at Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), where she oversees international collaborative projects. Most recently, she worked on the Gaza Project, an investigation into the targeting of journalists in Gaza. She is currently working on a film with PBS Frontline about Syria. Previously, Hoda worked with the investigative units at ABC News and CBS News, as a correspondent for France24, and with the Associated Press. For many years, she has trained journalists worldwide in investigative reporting.
