Bio

Alona Vonigrad is CEO of Shomrim - The Center for Media and Democracy, a non-profit, independent media news organization that focuses on investigative journalism and works in cooperation with for-profit media outlets to generate change. She was previously - from 2017 to 2019 - the director of The Center for Democratic Values and Institutions in Jerusalem, in which role she worked to safeguard the independence of Israel's judiciary system, helped bolster government institutions, and increased government transparency as an engine of trust.
In 2015, Vinograd received the Rappaport Prize for Women Generating Change in Israeli Society, awarded to Israeli women who have accomplished outstanding achievements in public, social, community, or economic fields.
Vinograd holds a Bachelor of Law from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya and a BA in English literature from Tel Aviv University.
