Erin Perry

As editor-in-chief of Outlier Media in Detroit, Erin Perry is both a newsroom leader and a scholar of communication and representation. Her research explores how Black journalists navigate the complexities of online discourse, focusing on their strategies for engaging in social media conversations around contentious topics. With extensive experience teaching news editing, reporting and public speaking, she combines academic insight with practical expertise to address the challenges of modern journalism. She champions the transformative potential of diverse leadership in collaborative journalism, advocating for its role in bridging divides, amplifying underrepresented voices and safeguarding democracy during times of upheaval.
