Saorla McCabe
Bio
Saorla McCabe is an Advisor for Communication and Information Strategy and Policy at UNESCO. She also serves as Deputy Secretary of UNESCO’s International Programme for the Development of Communication, a programme that provides grants to media development projects implemented by grassroots organizations in developing countries and countries in transition.
Saorla has 20 years of experience working on press freedom issues. Prior to her current post, she was the coordinator of World Press Freedom Day and a programme specialist on freedom of expression and journalists’ safety issues, with a particular interest in the gender dimensions of safety.
